AtW support agreed up to and including 31 March 2022 can continue until the end of that award period.ħ. Note: From 1 April 2022, all government departments are responsible for arranging workplace assessments and adjustments for their employees known as civil servants. Civil servants can still apply for Mental Health Support Services ( MHSS). This may include a grant to help cover the costs of practical support in the workplace. Eligible customers will be offered support based on their needs. In some cases, this may mean only slight adjustments to the working environment.Ħ. Removing these barriers creates equality and offers disabled people more independence, choice and control. This approach helps AtW recognise barriers that make life harder for disabled people. Barriers can be physical, or they can be caused by people’s attitudes to difference, like assuming disabled people can’t do certain activities within the workplace.ĥ. AtW recognises that people are disabled by barriers in society, not by their impairment or difference. Support that meets an individual’s needs in the most cost effective way for the taxpayer. Support that allows individuals to overcome workplace barriers that arise from their disability. Do not take into account the cost incurred by a non-disabled person doing the job. When determining whether there are additional costs or a business benefitĬonsider the support required by a disabled person doing the job. Support that is over and above what a non-disabled person would need to do their job.
